| Region's only fellowship trained breast surgeon sees patients at Genesys (GENESEE COUNTY, MI) Kenneth Steibel, MD, president of the Genesys Regional Medical Center medical staff, announces the appointment of Linsey Gold, DO, as a new member of the medical staff. Dr. Gold recently completed a fellowship in breast surgery at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland, where she had an opportunity to train under renowned breast surgeon Lorraine Tafra, MD, past president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Gold is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Breast Center Journal, an online journal that facilitates communication among members of the breast medicine community who discuss providing superior patient care in the midst of business obstacles. She also is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Diseases, the American Medical Women's Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. She has conducted extensive research in breast cancer and its recurrence, most effective diagnostic tools to detect breast cancer, early stage cancer, and surgical treatments of breast cancer. Dr. Gold will serve as an integral member of the Genesys Comprehensive Breast Center team, slated to open later this year. Genesys chose to open this center in response to the high incidence of breast cancer in Genesee County. This facility, housed inside Genesys Regional Center at Health Park, will include extensive navigation services focused on personalized breast disease management and treatment, rapid diagnosis for breast disease, extensive treatment options, and a minimally invasive approach to early breast cancer. "Our goal is to provide a seamless provision of breast medicine services," reports Norma Hagenow, president and CEO of Genesys Health System.
