Genesys community stroke group meets March 4

(GENESEE COUNTY, MI) Genesys Inpatient Rehabilitation Center will conduct a free community stroke support group meeting Thursday, March 4, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m, in the atrium conference room of Genesys Regional Medical Center's Health Park campus.

Topic for the March meeting is stretching and exercise after a stroke. Genesys physical and occupational therapists will conduct the meeting and provide participants with exercises to perform at home.

This free monthly group offers an opportunity for stroke survivors and their family members to exchange ideas, support and encourage each other, and learn more about their medical condition from Genesys specialists. Each meeting will include an educational component as well as information on resources available in the local community for stroke survivors.

This Genesys-sponsored support group will meet the first Thursday of every month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Genesys Inpatient Rehabilitation Center sponsors the new service.

Genesys Regional Medical Center's Health Park campus is located at One Genesys Parkway in Grand Blanc Township (Holly Road exit 108). The atrium conference room is located inside the main entrance of the hospital.

To obtain this advanced certification as a Disease-Specific Care-Advanced Primary Care Stroke Center, Genesys must meet Joint Commission rigorous national standards and safety goals that demonstrate safe, high-quality care, treatment and services for stroke patients, with continued efforts to improve processes.
