To protect against H1N1, Genesys limits inpatient visitors

(GENESEE COUNTY, MI) To help protect patients and visitors from the 2009 H1N1 flu virus, Genesys Regional Medical Center at Health Park has limited inpatient visitation to healthy adults age 18 and older, effective immediately.
"Our goal is to prevent the transmission of flu among our patients, staff and visitors,” announces James Bonnette, MD, chief clinical officer for Genesys.

This temporary change - until the flu season is over - includes limiting the number of public entrances to the hospital, and setting up screening desks at those entrances.

This visitation policy is one of many steps Genesys has taken to help prevent the spread of 2009 H1N1 flu. Others include installing hand cleansing dispensers throughout the hospital for the public and staff to help prevent the spread of germs. Genesys also has set up a website with information to help educate the public on how to stay healthy, and what to do if they get sick with flu-like illness.
