Genesys announces free mini-medical school classes

(GENESEE COUNTY, MI) Genesys offers the community an opportunity to learn more about your health from medical experts, alleviate your fears about certain medical procedures, and talk with physician specialists who want to help you take charge of your own health. Free mini-medical school classes are offered to the public during February and March at Genesys.
Genesys chose to open this school to support the public in their pursuit of health and wellbeing by helping individuals become more educated consumers when it comes to their health, reports Norma Hagenow, chief learning officer of the Genesys Learning Institute. "And they will learn from medical experts!" Faculty is comprised mainly of physicians on staff at Genesys.

Classes will take place Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Genesys Conference and Banquet Center, located on the Genesys Health Park campus (off Holly Road and Baldwin in Grand Blanc Township).

Curriculum is interactive - students will have an opportunity to share their knowledge on the subject before class begins, allowing instructors to tailor their content to the needs of the group.

This is the second time Genesys has offered free mini-medical school classes (first semester was held last fall).

The public can sign up for one, two, three or all of the classes. University of Michigan-Flint graduate students will receive graduate credit for attending the entire semester of classes (paying usual graduate education fees), and GISD teachers will receive CEUs (costs comparable to usual certification programs).
