(Grand Blanc, MI) Genesys Regional Medical Center has won the 2002 Consumer Choice
Award for overall quality and image.

National Research Corporation (NRC), a recognized innovator and leader in health care performance measurement, singles out those hospitals nationwide whose consumers rate them the best, based on a study of 140,000 households representing 400,000 people. Genesys was one of only six hospitals in Michigan and 150 in the country to earn this honor.
“Today’s consumers are making educated choices regarding their health care Preferences,” reports Norma Hagenow, president and CEO of Genesys Health System. “They are demanding more from us when it comes to quality, cost and access. They are expecting us to deliver better care than ever before, and will shop around until they find it.

“We are so proud that our community, with their critical eyes on all health care facilities, have chosen Genesys as a recipient of the 2002 Consumer Choice Award,” Hagenow adds.

NRC President and CEO Michael Hays says winners are determined by consumer perceptions on a multitude of quality and image health care issues. “As more information is made available to consumers, we expect the health care industry to remain a consumer-driven one. The winners of the award deserve recognition for the emphasis they have placed on providing quality care.”

The NRC survey is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to rate hospitals contains more consumer responses than the NRC study, Hays reports.
