Community Caring Awards

There are more than 45 million Americans without health insurance. Locally, there are almost 60,000 uninsured Genesee County residents. Throughout the year, many businesses, agencies, organizations and individuals work to assist in addressing this issue. Some provide free, discounted, or in-kind goods and services to the uninsured; others devote many hours of volunteer effort to the cause. In recognition of these efforts, we would like to honor these dedicated people. The Cover the Uninsured Week (CTUW) Committee is accepting nominations for the sixth annual “Community Caring” awards. The committee will review these nominations and nominees selected will receive an award at a recognition breakfast as part of Cover the Uninsured Week 2010. Please help us recognize those who help the uninsured access health care throughout the year!

Criteria for nomination:
An organization, business or individual that provides one of the following to the uninsured for health care services (services for which the organization or business is funded or receives reimbursement are not eligible):

Financial assistance for services or supplies
Discounted or in-kind services
Volunteer time to address the issues of the uninsured

Awards will be presented in two categories: Individual and Business/Organization

How to make a nomination:
Anyone is eligible to make a nomination, and you may make as many nominations as you’d like. Please note the following guidelines:

The attached nomination form must be received by the CTUW Committee no later than March 29, 2010. No nominations will be accepted after this date.
If your nomination is selected for an award, you will be asked to identify an individual who has benefited from the service for which you submitted the nomination.This individual will be asked to attend the awards breakfast to make brief comments on the benefits they received and to help present the award to the winner.
