Institutional Review Board (IRB)

This site is designed to familiarize you with the process of applying to do research within the Genesys Health System. The Genesys Health System IRB operates in accordance with the National Commission of the Protection of Human Subjects, FDA, Dept of Health & Human Services Laws, Good Clinical Practices and Ascension Ethical and Religious Guidelines.
Genesy Health System IRB was voted by the National Association of IRB Managers, Inc (NAIM) as one of the Top 10 IRB's in the Nation for Continued Education in Human Subject Protections.

MEDICAL EDUCATION RESEARCH INVOLVING MINIMAL RISK
If you are a resident, fellow, or medical student conducting research, and the project is minimal risk you are eligible to submit your project to the Medical Education Research Committee (MERC) for review. Information about this review process can be found on the MERC homepage

Submission Deadlines and Meeting Dates
The Genesys Institutional Review Board (IRB) meets the second Wednesday of every month. [Click here for the schedule]

Process for Submitting a Research Application for Review
The Genesys Institutional Review Board (IRB) requires that all personnel participating in human subject research complete an online educational module on human protection training before completing their application. [Read more]
