The programs in this section are designed to help you improve your skills, decision-making, leadership, or to help you deal with complex issues. Choose courses that help you in your current role or prepare you for new responsibilities.

RN to BSN Program
Our RN to BSN program offered by Ferris State University has been so popular that they've added a second and third group! There is still time to register for the next group. For more information, contact Ferris State University's satellite campus at (810) 762-0461.

Basic Life Support Instructor's Course/Renewal
BLS Instructors teach this 8-hour course designed by the American Heart Association to provide certified BLS rescuers the opportunity to attain the higher category of Basic Life Support Instructor. Any individual currently certified in BLS Healthcare Provider and interested in becoming and instructor may attend. An acceptable presentation at the first course taught is required to obtain course completion. Contact the Nursing Education office for more information regarding registration at (810) 606-5750.


Clinical Facilitator
This is an 8-hour course designed for registered nurses to use group building strategies and communication techniques to develop group cooperation as he or she performs the primary responsibilities of the Clinical Facilitator. Content includes the motivating video series by Donna Wright. Class disucussion includes competencies, healthy relationships, as well as communication and delegation strategies.

This course provides 6 contact hours.


Preceptor Course
This class is designed for the nurse who is assuming the role of preceptor. An overview of the role will be presented along with content related to the orientation process, role transition, clinical teaching skills, and evaluative feedback. This course is open to all nurses with a desire to be a preceptor to orientees. Must have Nurse Manager approval to attend.

This course provides 6.75 contact hours.

Register online on the Genesys Learning Institute Internet site. Open Genesys Learning Institute web site to your personal learning plan page. In the top left corner click on the Catalog, then half way down the page click on Nursing Education, scroll through the classes offered until you find Preceptor, click on the title then click Request approval. This will send a request to your director and they will enroll and schedule you to attend this session, if they decide to approve you for this class.
