Our professional staff cares for patients recovering from acute illness, promoting their wellness and independences. Services are adjusted to meet the changing needs of the patient. by incorporating our services into the family’s daily routine, we minimize disruption of their lifestyle while promoting patient and family independences. Almost any care provided in the hospital, doctor’s office, clinic or rehabilitation facility is available for homebound patients.

The Home Care staff
Nurses provide personalized care tailored to the patient’s needs. Our specialty teams use the latest technology. Nurses monitor the progress of our patients, teach them about their illness and medications, and assist family members to become confident caregivers.

Special Services provided by Nurses

• Case Management enables nurses to manage and evaluate the care of chronically ill dependent patients at risk for complications and frequent hospitalizations.
• IV Team Nurses are proficient in intravenous therapy. Patients can receive therapy after hospitalization in the comfort of their home. In some cases hospitalization can be avoided, reducing costs.
• Wound Team Nurses who specialize in wound care work together with physicians and the Genesys Tissue Trauma Center using the latest techniques to provide care and treatment to patients with acute and chronic wounds.

ADULT PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES
It is a mission of Genesys Home & Hospice Care to provide the best possible care to the patients we serve and thereby enhance quality of life. The Palliative Care Programs provide supportive care to patients with advanced illness still seeking curative treatment through the combined efforts of the Home Health and Hospice Clinical Teams. In this way patients receive the benefit of home health nursing visits and any needed therapies while hospice staff ensures pain is under control and psychosocial issues related to advanced illness are taken care of.

Patients with advanced illness in the Palliative Care Program are monitored closely for the symptoms of pain and discomfort that occur with advanced illness. Home health nurses provide skilled nursing visits under the plan of care ordered by the patient’s physician. The hospice nurse and social worker are able to monitor for signs of decline, skilled at determining the appropriate time for addressing end of life issues and possible transition to hospice care.

Cost of Services
Palliative Care Services are covered the same way as traditional Home Health Services and are billed under the patient’s primary insurance. As Genesys is committed to servicing those in need, patient’s without insurance may be considered for charity care. INFUSION CLINIC
The Infusion Clinic is located at the Genesys West Flint Campus and provides blood transfusions and antibiotic infusions. The clinic also provides medications that need to be administered in IV form, such as medications for rheumatoid arthritis therapy, osteoporosis therapy, asthma therapy and iron replacement. The clinic is open to infants, children and adults.
