Spiritual Care

The Spiritual Care department at Genesys Regional Medical Center is available to assist you and your loved ones with the needs that arise during your hospital stay. Services provided include support and presence at times of crisis such as a death in the family or when families are confronted with serious illness. Staff chaplains, specially trained as an integral part of our healing team, provide spiritual care with the assistance of area clergy and volunteers from local churches. Volunteers also assist with the provision of services including pastoral visiting and Eucharistic Ministry.

Visiting Clergy
Clergy of all faiths are welcome to visit members of their congregations. Twenty-four hour coverage is also made available through our affiliation with local clergy. If you indicated your church affiliation during the admission process, your pastor/rabbi will be notified of your hospitalization.

Holy Communion
The Spiritual Care department works with lay ministers of the Eucharist from area Catholic parishes who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion. Each morning, an assigned Eucharistic Minister will visit Catholic patients to offer communion. Should you wish Holy Communion during your hospital stay, you can make your request known to the nursing staff who will inform Spiritual Care or you may call the department directly at (810) 606-5290 or dial 65290 from your room phone, and leave a message with your name and room number.

Sacramental Ministry
A priest is on site Monday, Wednesday and Friday to celebrate Mass and make visits to Catholic patients to offer the Sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation. These are often sources of strength in the healing process. These Sacraments can also be made available upon request on days other than when the priest is on site.

Chapel
The Genesys Regional Medical Center at Health Park chapel is located in the atrium, next to the maple elevators. The chapel is open at all times for patients, families, visitors and hospital employees.
