The residency program covers a broad range of medical and surgical rotations including Internal Medicine, General and Vascular Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Clinical Laboratory, Pathology, Medical Records, Behavioral Medicine, Family Practice, Neurology, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Orthopedic Surgery, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Podiatric office practice and, of course, Podiatric Surgery.

Residents also participate in an ongoing Journal Club program, the Hospital Foot Clinic, the new "on-line" lecture program, the Contribution to Literature policy and other local educational opportunities.
An excellent one month externship/clerkship program is also available to students.

Graduates of the Genesys residency are fully prepared for the Board Qualification examination by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) in foot and ankle and reconstructive surgery, and by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Medicine (ABPOPPM) in general podiatric practice.

Residents also attend the ongoing lecture series sponsored by the Medical Education Department for all students, interns, residents and staff at GRMC. The Podiatry service is composed of 20 podiatrists dedicated to the success of this program. The resident will be prepared to meet the challenges of the changing health care system throughout the U.S., and most particularly, the Southeastern and Mid-Michigan areas.

GRMC is the market leader in the greater Genesee County area with over 26,000 inpatient admissions annually and over 1,400 podiatric surgical cases. The hospital serves as the anchor of Genesys Health System; a group of affiliated medical campuses, outpatient centers, primary care locations and ancillary health care organizations with a continuum of care that spans from primary care to inpatient/residential hospice. Opened in February of 1997, GRMC at Health Park boasts one of the country’s first hospitals designed both clinically and architecturally around patient-focused care.
