Traditional Internship

Medical school graduates who enter post-graduate training at Genesys Regional Medical Center will find that our internship programs provide a well-rounded range of the basic skills needed to prepare for either more specialized training or primary care. Our rotating internship includes rotations in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, family practice, emergency medicine, critical care, and subspecialties in medicine and surgery. Emphasis on principles and practices of osteopathic medicine occurs throughout the internship program.

Upon completion of your internship program, you are eligible for licensure in general practice. Our program provides you with excellent training in the holistic approach to patient care.

We recognize your need for didactic and clinical experience during your first post-graduate year. Genesys offers opportunity for you to learn from some of the country's most highly respected medical professionals who are faculty at Daily Guest Lectures, as well as for monthly Congdon Lecture Series. Morning clinical presentations in the major specialty areas provide ample opportunity for you to work with attending physicians in an interactive format. Journal Club, Book Review Club, Board Review and EKG Reading Conference complete the academic curriculum.

Your clinical experience will be enhanced by extensive practical training in the area of patient care. Under the direction of attending physicians and senior house staff members, your training will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of patient illnesses.

We feel that our personal, apprentice-style clinical training and organized didactic program is second to none. Our program can provide the experience you need to prepare for your career in osteopathic medicine.
