Genesys Family Birthing Center

The birth of your child is a very special experience for your entire family. And where this treasured event takes place will play an important part in the kind of special memories you and your family will have in the years to come, which is why you should consider family-centered childbirth at Genesys Regional Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center.

Family Centered
At Genesys, parents are encouraged to hold and keep their new baby with them during the hospital stay. We have a visitation policy which, depending on your specific situation and health status, usually allows other members of your family to join in welcoming the new family member. We also have a flexible rooming-in policy, where parents can participate in their baby’s care and get a head start on learning to know and recognize their baby’s needs. Nursing care after your delivery remains focused on your family as a unit, and on your desires and needs as new parents.

Birthing Rooms
You’ll begin your childbirth experience by entering Genesys Regional Medical Center at Health Park through your own Women and Children’s Center entrance located just to the right of the main doors. Because we feel your childbirth environment should be warm and home-like, the birthing rooms include comfortable furniture, and television and telephone service is available. Each room has a large window which overlooks our nature trails or courtyards, adding to the serene atmosphere. They feature birthing beds which convert to accommodate a variety of birth positions. And, of course, all of these rooms are supported by the most modern medical equipment. Safe, personalized and individualized maternity care is our ultimate goal.

Special Delivery Program
The Genesys Special Delivery Program was developed for parents who do not have adequate or full insurance coverage for their prenatal, delivery, newborn and post-delivery care. Participants in the Special Delivery Program receive regular prenatal care, attend childbirth classes, and attend sessions on self and baby care. Mothers and their babies in the program go home 24 hours after delivery. The program is priced as a package for routine pregnancies, and there are financial and geographic requirements. For more information regarding this program, or to request a program packet, call (810) 232-3522.
