Registration/Cancellation Information

The educational offerings in this catalog of programs reflect the vision, mission, and commitment of Nursing Education Services to provide quality services and clinical excellence to our customers.

Programs are planned with a focus on the organization's strategic plan and the knowledge, skills, and abilities nursing staff will need to care for growing and changing patient populations. Assessment of employee learning needs, regulatory requirements, technological advances, age-related learning needs all contribute to the education plan.

Registration Information
Pre-registration is required for all programs, unless otherwise specified in the course outline.

Registration Directions For Genesys Learning Institute
1. On any PC go to the Genesys
2. Click on Genesys Learning Institute
3. Login with your user ID (GEMS access #)
4. Type in your password, first time users will
If you have never logged into GLI before, your password will be "welcome" (all lower case)
5. Once you login you will come to your personal learning page.
6. Click on catalog, it is in the top left corner of your screen.
7. Click Nursing education, is about halfway down the page.
8. Click on the title of the course you wish to attend
9. Click on Request Approval
This will generate an email to your director and H/She will give final approval and schedule you to attend.

Phone registrations are not accepted.

Genesys Regional Medical Center personnel must have their manager's approval to attend a program, regardless of their intention to attend on their own time. No exceptions!

Continuing Education Credits

Continuing education is available with the nursing education programs offered in the Genesys Learning Institute Catalog. Genesys Health System is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the Michigan Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. To receive contact hours, participants must complete offering evaluations and attend the entire offering; unless partial credit is specified. Contact hours cannot be given to participants who arrive late or depart early. Contact hours are given for the first time attendance only; they cannot be given for repeating a class or course.

Cancellation Policy
Nursing Education reserves the right to cancel courses when a minimum of five (5) participants are not met, three (3) weeks prior to the date of the course (so registration not received by this time risk registering for a class being cancelled).

Please call the secretary at (810) 606-5751 if there is a need to cancel enrollment. Early notification will allow a wait listed participant to attend. In the event of situations beyond our control, Nursing Education reserves the right to substitute dates, times, classroom, or speakers for the presentations listed. Participants will be notified of these changes.

In the event of a weather emergency, the Nursing Education Office uses the Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint as a guide to cancelling classes. If they are unable to meet due to inclement weather; the Genesys classes scheduled for that (those) day(s) are canceled.

Fee Structure
Genesys Health System (GHS) staff, volunteers, retirees, and affiliates: No fee required with registration.
All others: A $70.00 fee required with registration, except for ACLS/BLS courses where standard charges apply.
