Graduate Nurses

As a Graduate Nurse, you are probably very excited to be completing your nursing degree but also a bit nervous, wondering if you are ready to begin your professional nursing career. Don’t worry, Genesys Regional Medical Center offers one of the most extensive orientation programs around. We will help you make the transition from Graduate Nurse to Registered Nurse a successful one.

Your orientation program will introduce you to the Genesys Health System and the role of Registered Nurse. The first two weeks of your orientation will be in the classroom, covering such topics as electronic nursing notes, equipment and general processes and procedures. Next, you will begin working on the unit with your nurse preceptor, who will provide you with the individualized support necessary to improve skills and increase your patient care responsibilities. If you are hired for a critical care unit, you will also receive additional education in Basic Dysrhythmia and critical care topics. Your transition to the professional role will be complete upon achieving your Registered Nurse licensure. Graduate Nurses must take the board exam within 60 days of their employment start date.
