Genesys EMT Program

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN - BASIC
This 7-month program consists of classroom education and a minimum of 112 hours of clinical hands-on experience divided between Genesys Health Park Emergency Department and third-ride-alongs with area ambulance services. Clinical experience allows the student to apply skills learned in the classroom and gain necessary patient care experience prior to entering the job market. This course meets or exceeds the national requirements for EMT-Basic education and successful course completion allows the student to challenge the National Registry examination at the EMT-Basic level.

Students that are planning on attending Medical School, PA School, or Nursing will find this program to be a good stepping stone. Working as an EMT is considered to be a position of responsibility. This is due to the autonomy that providers operate under in the field. It is also a good way to gain patient contact hours. Both of these items will help give you a competitive edge over other applicants to your respective school.

Tuition Assistance
Several types of tuition assistance are accepted for students attending Genesys sponsored programs:

GM - TAP
Work First
Tuition Assistance for Genesys Employees ( Must be a full time employee)
Organizational Tuition Assistance (i.e. Fire Department, Ambulance Company, etc...)

Student loans are not currently accepted!

If you do not see a particular tuition assistance that you are qualified to utilize, please feel free to contact the EMS department at (810) 606-7763 to check on the possibility of adding your program to the accepted list.
