The 18th annual Charity Classic is a Genesys Health Foundation special event that raises money for the local community. Funds raised through this year’s event will benefit the Genesys Health Foundation’s Women & Children’s $2 million Capital Campaign. For years there has been a great need to increase the safety and level of obstetrical care in our community. There are serious risks and lack of coverage for our community’s expectant mothers and newborns. Our region is among the nation’s worst for infant morbidity and mortality. There is a rising birth rate, and it is projected to continue over the next decade. This translates into escalating high-risk pregnancies, deliveries and a growing demand within hospital obstetrical units. This year’s Genesys Charity Classic Party will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m., at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc. Tickets are $125 per person for which you will enjoy cocktails, the finest culinary specialties of Warwick Hills, a spectacular silent auction with fine jewelry, sports memorabilia, trips, live musical entertainment of “The Groove Party” and weather permitting three outdoor golf challenges as we round out an evening filled with good fun, good food and good friends. This annual event also features a golf tournament on Monday, July 19, 2010. Play the legendary links of Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, one of southeastern Michigan’s premiere private golf courses. Since its inception in 1993, the Genesys Charity Classic has raised more than $1.9 million that goes back to the community. Proceeds have been used to help the uninsured and underinsured in our community, provided 126 scholarships valued at over $211,000, assisting 43 students in completing their degrees and we have filled 35 positions within Genesys in a variety of fields including physical therapy, pharmacy, surgical technology and nursing.
