Diabetes Education Program:
Diabetes is a lifelong condition and studies show that people who take charge of their diabetes can reduce their chances of health problems and premature death. Diabetes education increases motivation and knowledge, lowers HbA1c levels, lowers health costs and improves quality of life. Genesys Diabetes and Nutrition Learning Center is certified by the Michigan Department of Community Health and accredited by the American Diabetes Association ensuring high quality services. Any person with a diagnosis of diabetes is eligible for diabetes education with a faxed referral from their physician (fax number 810-606-7747). Education is offered in a group class format and/or private sessions. Most insurances cover services initially and annually. Insurance will be checked for any out of pocket expenses. Managing your diabetes is a lifelong commitment and we are here to help support you! Topics discussed are:
  • Healthy eating
  • Being active
  • Monitoring
  • Taking medications
  • Problems solving
  • Reducing risks
