We met Amy when she cared for my father, Myron Schlott, during his 4th admission (since October 2005) in March 2006 on 2S-Telemetry Unit. During his illnesses he was cared for by many nurses and received adequate care, but Amy was noticably different. Anyone could tell that she truly enjoyed what she was doing. My dad was understandably discouraged about yet another hospitalization and not in any mood to be positive about his progress. Amy not only cared for him cheerfully, but her attitude was contagious to all of us and, most importantly, to Dad. After her 12 hour shift, we were all grateful for her ability to provide "super human work" by being professional, compassionate, and cheerful. When she left her shift, we thanked her and silently hoped that she could be Dad's nurse all the time. I hope that this note to let you know what a great job Amy does at your hospital will give you an opportunity to tell her. Please make sure she knows that what she does is important - and truly makes a difference, not only to her patients, but also to the families who care about them.
