This is the award-winning letter sent to Naomi King:
About 3 years ago, I was working for a dentist in Fenton and I had a Genesys Nurse (Naomi King of 4 South) that was late for her appointment; so as the recpetionist I called her to see if she wanted to reschedule. She proceded to tell me how there was such a shortage of good nurses and she told me that she was overwhelmed and she really wished there were more people that wanted to go into nursing. She was running late due to the shortage and she had on the floor that day. I was really moved by Naomi because I had talked to her before and I knew she was a nurse of integrity and high standards and I wanted to be like her. I wanted to be able to give the kind of care that she gave her patients. She had no idea what I was doing and that very day I went to UofM-Flint and got signed up for classes. I was admitted to the nursing program the next year and I have three semesters left to go before I finish. I recently applied to Genesys for the Nurse Extern position and I was placed, as luck would have it, on 4 South! I ran into her one of my first days here and thanked her for inspiring me to be a great nurse like she is. To me, Naomi is the image of a professional nurse. She changed my life forever and for that I am so thankful.
