This is the award-winning letter sent to Lisa Dolan:
On July 18th, our father, father-in-law, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa (Bill Gewirtz) was in the Vascular Intensive Care Unit under your care. You might remember us as the very large family of 11 children, we will never forget you. Bill passed away that evening and althought it was difficult to see him leave us, the entire family knew it was for the best.

We are writing this letter to thank you, Lisa, for the outstanding, compassionate, and loviong care you gave Bill and the entire family. Your explanations concerning the medical information were precise and thorough. Your powerful assistance in easing Bill's pain made our pain less. But your tenderness when we saw you shed a tear meant more to us at that moment in time than you will ever know.

Nursing is a demanding job and we are sure you have experienced many disturbing cases, yet you made us all feel we were the most important case you had ever encountered. Your dedication to nursing is remarkable.

May you be blessed with the same type of tender care in your own hour of need; as you have given your patients and families. We all sincerely thank you!
