This is the award-winning letter sent to Pediatrics:
Kim McIntire, Theresa McComb, Joann Samuelson, Sara Baldwin: We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the outstanding care our baby boy received while hospitalized on the Peds Unit recently. Keller was admitted very early in the morning on April 8th, with bronchitis. Kim on 3rd shift, spent 3 nights caring for Keller. She was so calming--especially during Keller's 3rd attempt to have an IV placed--as well as professional and helpful.
Our family also has the pleasure of meeting "Sam," Theresa, and Sara on the day shift. Each of these nurses went above our expectations to create a positive healing experience for our little guy! Sam provided lots of information, both written and verbal, regarding Keller's diagnosis and medications. She also did the leg work to assist with insurance questions and obtaining a nebulizer for discharge.
Theresa and Sara, both great nurses, made our daughter, Ava, feel very special. Their thoughtfulness made a challenging time more fun for us. Ava is still excited about the giant jelly bean cupcake the nurses delivered from the Easter Bunny!
In this current medical climate, the focus is often on increasing productivity and decreasing direct care. This was not the case in our experience with the Pediatric Unit at Genesys. The whole nursing team was fantastic!
Our family would like to make a donation to assist with the renovation of the unit's "Family Room" in honor of Kim, Sam, Theresa, and Sara. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
