This is the award-winning letter sent to Megan Semintelli:
I hope this letter will find the intended recipient: Megan. She is usually a float nurse, 2-south is her home unit (I believe), and she took care of my Dad on June 19, 2009. His name is Robert Choranziak and he was in room 2107-B.
My Dad was discharged yesterday from your hospital after having a procedure and I feel compelled to inform the nursing directors of our family’s great experience at Genesys.
My name is Lynn, and I have attended to my father’s health needs for many years, but recently I moved to Florida. I was distraught that I could not be with him during his most recent illness. It was so scary! But, we had an angel looking after us. Megan, his nurse, was absolutely wonderful. Throughout my father’s stay, she kept him comfortable, kept him safe, and eased my mind with her many phone calls to keep me updated. She followed through with every thing she said she would do and more. I am sure she was busy, but still took the time to meet my needs as well as my Dad’s. She managed his care with such commitment and compassion; we couldn’t be more impressed and so very grateful! With each encounter Megan was professional and knowledgeable. It was wonderful to be the recipients of such loving care! Megan obviously has a very high standard for patient care.
My father and I want to thank Megan and let her supervisors know that she is an asset to the hospital and a blessing to our family. Her loving care will not be forgotten. Thank you Megan, as a daughter and as a fellow nurse, I appreciate all you have done.
