This is the award-winning letter sent to Brenda Lundy:
Brenda is an excellent example of the type of nurse that any facility would be proud to have represent them. She has the ability to combine competent professionalism with compassion in all her interactions with patients and family. Many people may not know just how special Brenda is: She is not only completing her BSN while working full time, but she also home schools her 3 sons in addition to going through orientation on all the intensive care units in order to work the Float B position. Any one of these challenges would be stressful alone, but Brenda never complains and has met all of them with an attitude and enthusiasm that translates into her daily dealings with coworkers and patients. To top it off, Brenda carries her attitude into the community with her. Not long ago, Brenda was a witness to a tragic accident involving a toddler being hit by a car. Brenda immediately assisted at the scene before EMS could arrive. Sadly the child was too severely injured to survive, but Brenda also attended the funeral to assist in giving comfort to this grieving family. No one, and I mean NO ONE deserves the Daisy Award more than she does. I would rest easy if a loved one of mine was in her care.
