This is the award-winning letter sent to Dottie Carr & Michelle Most:
It is my hope that I can at the very least, convey the fact that the kindness, professionalism, strength, caring, compassion, and respect with which you handled our situation (and most importantly, my mother who was sick, exhausted, and unable to advocate for herself and be heard); will never, ever be forgotten and remains close to my heart as one of the most compassionate and humane experiences of advocacy that I have ever seen take place in the medication profession - and I remain so very, very thankful for that give that you both tried so hard to give my family. When I was at my absolute wits end; ready to break, exhausted, and heart broken; feeling helpless watching my mom suffer (since March), you 2 bothered to do something that no one had bothered to do this entire battle. You took the time to listen to our family, our situation, our struggle, our wishes (from me trying to explain through tears, to Jill conveying the whole story to Michele, to the words that my Mom has been trying to say since March; but hasn't been given the option) and you advocated for your patient and their wishes - you brought kindness, dignity, ethics, and respect to a situation where there was none and made it possible for my Mom's true wishes to be carried out, to give us all peace of mind on our nightmarish journey, and to let my Mom choose to stop suffering; for our whole family to stop suffering. You, Dottie and Michele did what was right; that's something you don't' see any more (unfortunately) in a world where everyone's out for themselves. For always, I will remain indebted to you for your kindness; you have both made a mark on my life that will never, ever be forgotten. Thank you. |
