This is the award-winning letter sent to Kristi Lawless:
When my mom had surgery, Kristi let us all come into the ICU room to see that our mother was okay. This was a blessing for me as I come from a family of 10 and I have never been able to see a family member right after surgery. I live 2-hours away and was there before the surgery. Usually, I would wait until late that night or see my family member the next day. I would always get my ifnormation 2nd or 3rd hand. I try not to ask the doctors or nurses for information at all, because I know it can be overwhelming for them. She let us ALL ask questions and we didn't feel rushed. It helped to decrease our anxiety and nobody had to wait until the next day.

I don't know if this is the way you normally do this, but I have never seen it done this way. When you come from a large family, everyone understands the information provided differently and passes on their percepting of the info. This helped to prevent misunderstandings that increases our anxiety.

Also, all employees have been so nice to our mother and our family.
