This is the award-winning letter sent to NTICU:
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the awesome staff of the NTICU at Genesys Regional Medical Center for their extraordinary commitment to organ donor patients and their families.

This past year, the NTICU facilitated 3 of Genesys' 4 organ donor events. The compassionate staff on the NTICU collaborates with the Gift of Life to determine the best way to present the option of donation. If consent is obtained, the journey begins of caring for the donor patient and the family until the organ recovery. The NTICU staff does a remarkable job of supporting family's grief, while at the same time helping them see that something positive and wonderful will come from their loved one's gifts.

It was in Nashville at the Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative meeting that we heard the story of Rachael Ball and saw for the first time the beautiful painting she did in honor of her donor and donor family. the painting and the incredible story of Rachael and her 16 year old donor Ransom, inspired the idea for the "Reverence Banner," and NTICU nurse, Sherry Royster went to work creating it.

This beautiful banner, which was created with Rachael's blessing, is a perfect quilted replica of Rachael's original work. It will be displayed when a donor event is taking place at Genesys, quietly honoring the life of the donor and the generous gift that the donor and his/her family are giving.
